Madden was released for Mut 22 coins the first time to PC in 1988 during Jackson's second season in the NFL. But due issues with licensing and a hip injury sustained during his 1990 NFL season, which forced his premature retirement from football, Jackson was never a part of Madden during his playing days. The year 2014 was the first time Jackson first made his Madden debut as a special-edition athlete playing in the Ultimate Team game mode.

On Wednesday, EA Sports announced that not only will Jackson return to the game as he hasn't played following Madden NFL 15 however, Jackson will also be given the privilege of becoming an official Madden cover player. In the next 35 years, nearly 35 years since his NFL career started at the age of 1987 Jackson has been selected to be on the cover featuring a digital version of Madden NFL 22. And beginning Friday, gamers will once again be capable of playing with him on the internet. EA Sports also teamed up with Nike to recreate the brand's famous Bo Knows ad campaign by creating a digitally rendered version of his iconic shoe which is his Nike Air Bo Turf which is incorporated into the game.

Jackson was the 7th running back named as a Madden cover athlete. He is followed by Eddie George (Madden 2001), Marshall Faulk (Madden 2003), Shaun Alexander (Madden 2007), Peyton Hillis (Madden 12), Adrian Peterson and Barry Sanders (both Madden 25).

Before the cover unveiling, the Undefeated's Madden 22 coins Aaron Dodson caught up with Jackson to talk about the Tecmo Bowl days, how Bo Knows came to life as well as his Madden return and much more.
